Main Switchboard & Supply Design
Fourth Phase Electrics were engaged by a large industrial baked goods company to help design a new main switchboard, mains supply upgrade and entire new switch room.
We designed, supplied and installed a 6400amp, 10 metre long, 11 tonne new main switchboard. In addition to this, we designed the new consumer mains which was fed from 2x 2000kVa kiosk sub stations and the entire new main switch room including the internal fit out.
Turn-Key Project Delivery
We provided an end to end, turn-key project management solution of the entire construction process for our client, including liaison with Powercor, electrical inspectors, building surveyors, project and construction engineers, concreters, fabricators, carpenters, block layers, refrigeration mechanics and our clients engineering and capital management team.
The project was a major success, we were able to manage the entire facility to remain online 24/7 for the four months during the construction process, and enabled them to be down for 1x 12 hour Sunday shutdown in which the HV lines were de-energised and our new kiosk subs & LV consumer mains were energised.
Capacity, Safety & Future Growth
The new mains and switchboard has over 3x the capacity of their original switchboard, it incorporates full AFDD (arc fault detection device) and RELT (reduced energy let through) systems to maintain a very high level of safety for any personnel working within the switch room, and for the switchboard itself as the AFDD will shunt trip the main switch if it sees any miniscule arcing. This greatly reduces the risk of an Arc-Flash incident.
The new switchboard and switch room has allowed our client to expand their operations with peace of mind knowing their main piece of electrical infrastructure will be able to handle it in the safest and most efficient way possible.
